Marco Rose is confident in the Cherries’ squad depth and has stated that the club feels really happy with their current group of players.
Bournemouth have brought in three fresh faces this campaign through Alvaro Rodriguez, Antonio Silva and Juanlu Sanchez, while crucially holding onto their most important players for the upcoming season.
The message to potential suitors for Alex Scott, Junior Kroupi and Rayan has been clear – these players are not available for transfer, and the club have maintained an unwavering position on this matter.
Rose explained that securing these key players was part of the discussions held when he negotiated his move to the club following Andoni Iraola’s decision to step down at the conclusion of his contract last season.
Speaking about retaining those players, Rose commented that it matters greatly not just to him personally but to the club as well, given their achievement of qualifying for European competition next season which requires maintaining a competitive edge.
He emphasised that this necessitates having a strong, competitive squad, and the club chose not to sell anyone – a decision he views as astute. He noted this was explicitly discussed during his recruitment conversations, and everything has unfolded as planned, with three signings made and no departures.
Rose observed that across the Premier League, many clubs with newly appointed managers have made numerous signings, making it difficult to forecast how things will develop.
During his initial press conference as Cherries manager at the beginning of pre-season training, Rose had indicated he would meet with Tiago Pinto and Matt Ritchie following the Austria tour to evaluate the squad and assess requirements.
When questioned about the squad’s depth and whether any particular areas had been identified for attention, Rose responded that the quality of his options is solid.
He explained that success in European competition is not about possessing 30 players but rather about having 20 who can genuinely compete. This means having coverage in every position to rotate players and manage their workload effectively.
For him, this represents the priority – combining youthful talent with seasoned professionals. He expressed satisfaction with their circumstances across all areas of the pitch.
Rose acknowledged they are now simply awaiting the close of the transfer window.
He stated they feel under no pressure and are genuinely content with their squad, having preserved the existing group and moved early for the players mentioned. Everything is in a positive state, and they are now just waiting for the window to shut.
