Rose was appointed in April to succeed Iraola, taking the helm in June after the campaign concluded when Iraola was set to depart.
The German began his duties at the start of July, and it has been a demanding period for the incoming manager.
Looking back at pre-season preparations, Rose told the Daily Echo that time had flown by, indicating how hectic the schedule had been. He noted that the squad’s unity and approach to pre-season training had particularly impressed him. The players had supported the new coaching team in settling in smoothly, while also demonstrating considerable dedication during training sessions, and the backroom staff had performed admirably. Rose expressed that he now felt very positive about the situation. He emphasised the need to transfer this optimistic mindset onto the field in the Premier League and the various competitions ahead, with an aim to secure favourable outcomes.
Bournemouth commence their season at Manchester City this Sunday, and Rose is satisfied with how the squad has adapted tactically to his approach. While the system bears similarities to the one employed by Iraola, which influenced Rose’s appointment, certain subtle adjustments have been implemented that the players have embraced.
Rose stated that the team’s intentions are evident. He explained that establishing direction was paramount. He expressed a desire for all players to be in optimal condition and injury-free, indicating his belief that without injuries, the side could compete against anyone on any surface, while also possessing a strong squad. Most of the squad members are currently match-fit, with a few others still working their way back to full fitness. He highlighted that the season would be lengthy with numerous fixtures, necessitating contributions from everyone.
