Kluivert hopeful Cherries can upset Man City in Maresca’s debut

Justin Kluivert is confident Bournemouth can take advantage of their opening Premier League fixture against Manchester City under new manager Enzo Maresca at the Etihad Stadium this weekend.

Both clubs have appointed fresh head coaches during the close season, with Maresca arriving in Manchester following Pep Guardiola’s departure, while Marco Rose succeeded Andoni Iraola at Bournemouth.

Uncertainty persists around both sides as the players adjust to fresh tactical approaches under their respective new bosses.

Despite City being expected to triumph on Sunday, Kluivert believes Bournemouth can exploit any early-season vulnerabilities.

He told the Daily Echo that City remain strong contenders for the title but noted that opening matches frequently deliver surprises, particularly when teams are still adapting to different coaching methods.

He expressed optimism that these circumstances could work in Bournemouth’s favour.
