Djordje Petrovic: 7
Petrovic produced a pair of crucial stops and appeared composed between the posts for Bournemouth.
He had little chance with either goal, though he and the backline must collectively enhance their organisation at defensive dead-ball situations.
Adrien Truffert: 7
Truffert coped admirably with Phil Foden down Bournemouth’s left flank and largely silenced the City attacker in an impressive tussle along that side.
He demonstrated his usual tireless energy up and down the touchline throughout the contest.

Antonio Silva: 7
Promising signs from Bournemouth’s new centre-back.
He demonstrated presence and appeared to be adapting swiftly to top-flight football.
His quick integration is encouraging, and his partnership with James Hill will prove vital for Bournemouth’s prospects this term.
James Hill: 6
Hill performed steadily, but positioned himself too far off the pace for City’s clinching strike, allowing Gvardiol to slip in behind.
Aside from that moment, another respectable display from the defender.
Adam Smith: 7
Smith coped admirably with former colleague Antoine Semenyo and restricted his influence significantly.
Juanlu Sanchez must develop quickly as Bournemouth cannot depend on Smith to feature throughout every match, though Smith’s continued reliability when selected is a positive.
Alex Scott: 7
Scott displayed some neat touches in the centre of the park and looked composed.
Bournemouth did not enjoy extended periods of possession, so perhaps he was unable to influence proceedings as much as possible, but that will change.
Lewis Cook: 6
Cook performed the unglamorous work effectively in midfield and grafted hard before making way with a quarter-hour remaining.
Marcus Tavernier: 8
A composed finish for his strike and a complete performance from the attacker.
That amounts to two goals in two competitive fixtures for Tavernier now, following his strike against Nottingham Forest on the final day of the previous campaign.
He delivered a productive season previously in terms of goals and assists, and will be targeting similar output.
Justin Kluivert: 7
Kluivert appears to be rediscovering the form he showed two seasons past and will prove significant for this Bournemouth side.
His connection with Evanilson proved crucial two seasons ago and could prove central once more this season.
Rayan: 6
Not Rayan’s most influential afternoon, though he did feature in the build-up to the goal.
He has work ahead to reach peak condition, though he did have a reduced pre-season schedule compared to most of the Bournemouth squad following the World Cup.
Evanilson: 7
The Brazilian impressed linking play in a role where he holds such importance. An excellent delivery for Tavernier to convert for the goal. Evanilson appears set to flourish under this manager.
